On Sunday, October 25, I went to my first ever portfolio day at The Art Institute Of Chicago. Being one of the couple thousand of students, I was a little discouraged at first, but then found my way. The first school I talked to was the School of art in San Fransisco. The meeting went okay, being my first interview of the day. They said that i should work more on my layering, but overall that my portfolio was decent. My portfolio which contained three paintings; Buildings and Bottles, Waste Not, Simple Machines was also filled with a sketch book, binder which had my self portrait and other prints and drawings and a large drawing. I also carried a framed print of Saint Cecilia in my hand that became bothersome after a while.

The next school that I talked to was the University of Michigan. I only got a few remarks about my work from there representative. I was told that my figure drawing was good, but needed more of it. They also really pushed their summer program, which many did. The next school that I approached was the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, which I was very plesently surprised by. I talked to a man by the name of Will Swenson, who was very interested in my work and said it had a maturity to it.The more that we talked, the more I became interested in the school and may have to keep it in mind for the future.  The advice that he gave was to push the color of my works and expirement with different things.

After that I visited a couple of small schools and lastly visited the most important, The School of the art Institute of Chicago. The man I talked to, Paul, really enjoyed my work but was very direct with many difficult questions. He told me to find an influence to not take my educational for granted along with many other great tips. He directed me towards the summer program that they offered and said that he thinks in a couple of years with some hard work, that Iwould have a wonderful portfolio. Overall it was a great opportunity and learning experience.
